Stun guns need several seconds of contact to be effective, video evidence or lack of it, a rare and free website recommendation, one of the most important lessons in self-defense, and visit a website to answer the question: "Do stun guns work?"
In my opinion, stun guns are a quick fix with lots of Band-Aids. I think people picture themselves in a situation where they are about to be attacked. They take out their trusty stun guns. Wait for the attacker to attack, and ZAP! Down he goes!
If only it were that easy!
One of the biggest problems with the above fantasy is that stun guns NEED several seconds of contact to be effective. A lot can, and probably will happen to you in those few seconds, including being zapped with your own zapper.
Stun guns research
While researching stun guns on the Internet, it occurred to me that not one website has video evidence, showing stun guns being used effectively… why not?
I've read success stories from police who have used stun guns on people and dogs. I've read about tests done by government law departments. Plus lots of claims, as to how well they work, by people who are selling them via the Net.
Don't get me wrong! I'm not saying that I don't think they work. I am saying that I don't think they work well enough to drop an attacker in an instant. Five seconds, yes, but five seconds is a long time to wait. At the end of the day, I don't think an attacker would let you zap him for five seconds… do you?
A rare and free website recommendation
During my research, I came across a website and a person who made the usual claims. But he also had the "nuts" to clearly state that NONE of the zapping devices will stop him from hurting you, before he goes to the ground.
Here's what he said:
Stun guns, Air Tasers™ and even Myotrons™ have all been tested by me and will not take me down before I can get them away and hurt you.
He has a clean; easy to navigate website that is also fast to load. I am giving him and his website top marks, and a very free personal recommendation, purely because he told the truth.

A couple more things you should know about stun guns are that to use them, you have to get close to the attacker (stay and fight). A stun gun may give you the courage to say and fight. So, instead of making escape plans, if you have a stun gun, you may find that you reach for it rather than find a way to get the hell out of there!
One of the most important lessons in self-defense is to understand that making a stand and staying and fighting should ALWAYS be the last option. Use the "stay and fight" option if you have no other choice.
Finally! Sooner or later, you are going to leave your stun gun at home in your bedroom drawer. You will get sick of carrying it around with you. Or you will forget to take it with you. You will put it in your drawer and eventually forget all about it.
Get a stun gun if that's what you want, but also learn to rely on yourself to defend yourself. After all, you will always have you with you, no matter where you are… right? Learn some self-defense techniques for defending yourself.
