Why Drunks should carry a White Towel

1 of 70+ Articles here at SDS

This article was written to demonstrate how being drunk, decreases your ability to think clearly. If you can not think clearly, how can you ever hope to effectively defend yourself? We will look at how security workers, in nightclubs, use this knowledge to their advantage. But first, let’s start with the most important thing to remember…If you are drunk, you cannot defend yourself. If you are drunk, you cannot defend yourself."Hey, you just said that twice," you say!

Yes I did, and I'm going to say it again! If you are drunk, you cannot defend yourself. This is a big disadvantage if the drunken person is you and the other way around if this person is an attacker. Security workers in nightclubs, and the like, are well aware of this and use this knowledge to their advantage.

Drunken people don't always remain calm, which is why they get thrown out of clubs and bars. Drunken people are not fully alert and they are certainly not able to think clearly.

A good security person should have the gift of the gab. When he is trying to remove someone from a premise, he will simple use a bit of "psychology" and say something like the following:

"Come on buddy, you've had a bit to drink. Why don't you come outside for a bit of fresh air, settle yourself down and then I'll let you back in… all right! Come on, just a couple of minutes!"

They both then walk towards the door (no hitting). This security person signals another security person standing at the front door. When they get to the door, the first security person says to the drunk, "I've got to go back in, I'll leave you with him, all right." He then turns around and walks away.

Now, a minute or two passes and the drunk says to the doorman "hez saidz Iz could goz backs inz." The doorman says, "He's not here now, I am, and I say you're going home, buddy!"

Ripped off!

It's a little trick of the security trade to get drunks out. The guards were working as a team all along: one will signal the other to not let the drunken person back in, and then leaves. The drunk couldn't think straight to save himself and security people use this knowledge to their advantage.

Alcohol is bad for your health and bad for your ability to defend yourself. Never forget this, especially the second part, the "ability to defend yourself" part.

If you like a drink, I suggest you carry a white towel around with you. Because if you get attacked, as they sometimes do in boxing, "throw in the towel," because you will not stand a chance!

Sad and sorry, but very true!

Just a little balance

Having said that, let me now say this. Extensive research has shown that moderate consumption of red wine has considerable health benefits.

Half a glass of red wine per day will reduce your risk of death from heart disease by 50%. However, if you drink a bit more, you will start doing damage. These days, you can go into your local health food store and get a very healthy "non" alcoholic red wine, which has all the same health benefits.

To summarize

If you are drunk, you cannot defend yourself, physically or intellectually!
