Catch an Attacker with his Pants Down

1 of 70+ Articles here at SDS

An interesting short story where you put yourself in the shoes of an attack victim. We will look at what you did right and what you could have done better. There is no "one" technique that will guarantee a successful outcome in every situation. Learn why you should arm yourself with awareness and options.

Imagine this! You are walking alone in a park and having a wonderful time. You hear three or four fast moving footsteps coming from behind you. As you begin to turn around to see who it is, you are grabbed from behind in a bear hug (a rough tight embrace around your upper body). You can see two male hands on your chest - locked together. With no time to think, you are being dragged backwards into nearby bushes.

About 60-feet (20m) from the track you were walking on, you are spun around and thrown to the ground –you hit your head hard. Stunned and shocked, you try to get to your feet. Kicked in the stomach, you fall to the ground again, unable to breathe. Lying face up on the ground, you realize what is happening… you are being attacked! You see your attacker for the first time. He is standing at your feet.

He seems quite relaxed, as if he knows what he is doing and has plenty of time on his hands. You get the feeling he has done something like this before. You must have looked at him the wrong way or for too long, because he drops to his knees (knees both sides of your upper thighs), and starts hitting you in the face. It hurts, and you are back in a stunned state of shock. As you are lying there stunned, he kneels over you and begins to take down his pants.

You have heard or read somewhere that a strike to the testicles will render an attacker helpless, but because of the position you and he are in, you don’t try to hit him there. You have not tried to scream for help, he thinks you are in a deep state of shock. and until now… you have been! Although you still look stunned to him, you are beginning to gather yourself and your thoughts.

He has not tied you up in any way, because up until now, you have been a dream victim. A couple of hits and you have frozen up in terror… or so it would appear! His pants are down and you know what he plans to do! He begins to position himself to lie down on top of you. You know that if you allow that to happen, you will be trapped. Now is the time to act!

A strike to the testicles is still not practical. You notice what an ugly face he has, as it is moving closer to your face. Then, without thinking, you spread and stiffen your pointer and middle fingers, fold the others out of the way and you strike out. Your target is his eyes and you think you had a direct hit with your first strike – it happened so fast!

You know that now you have started to fight back, there is no turning back, you have got to keep going, you have got to win, and get away. Within one second of the first strike to his eyes, you strike again and again and once more. You are surprised at how fast and how automatically you struck him. It just seemed to happen.

Your attacker pushes back off the ground with his hands and presses them against both of his eyes. He leans forward slightly and loses balance. As he falls to his left and hits the ground in pain, your auto-pilot kicks in again. You are on your feet and running like mad before you realize.

What happened

His ugly face triggered the steps for a self-defense technique you learned a long time ago. While learning a technique called "The Eye Gouge" you were asked to draw an ugly face. It seemed silly at the time, but because it sounded like a bit of fun, you got out a piece of paper and did it. It paid off!

You were lucky he didn’t tie you up while you were stunned. But if he had tried to, you knew that no matter what, you would NEVER allow yourself to be tied up! If he tried to tie you up, the interest you took in learning to defend yourself made you aware of this kind of thing, and it also gave you options for dealing with it.

You took the time to learn how to rely on yourself. You learned about awareness in attack situations and you had options. In this attack, you used the element of surprise, good timing and the eye gouge technique. You had little time to think and you found that for the most part, it all happened on autopilot.

Before you get a big head, you did do something wrong…

You allowed yourself to be taken to a second location. He took you off the track you were walking on and into nearby bushes. He must have planned the attack. He knew the area and knew that there was not likely to be any interruptions. That’s why he seemed to be relaxed with plenty of time.

Conclusion

There are no guarantees when it comes to self-defense. There is no "one" technique that will guarantee a successful outcome in every situation. All you can do is arm yourself with awareness and options. By reading and learning as much as you can, now, one day it may pay off!
